Art, Instructor

Danah Schremmer is an art instructor in the School of Art at the Culture House.  She holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Art Education from Washburn University and a Master’s of Science in Education from the University of Kansas.

This year Danah begins her 12th year teaching art. She feels as much passion for her craft as she did her first year.  Danah has taught art in kindergarten through twelfth grade in four different public schools in three Kansas school districts, along with instructing at the Culture House. Her first teaching experience was in a 1A school in the Lorraine Unified School district 328 where she taught kindergarten through 12th grade art at Quivira Heights.  In addition to teaching, she served as the assistant volleyball coach during the four years she taught at Quivira Heights.  After deciding to move on from the small-town life, she transitioned to a much larger 5A school in Hutchinson, Kansas.  She taught drawing and painting during her time at Hutchinson High School.  Danah while teaching at Hutchinson High School she received a National honor when her student was awarded a Scholastics gold medal. While living in Hutchinson, Danah participated in the Hutchinson Piano Project and was awarded second place in professional photography at the Kansas State Fair.  After two years at USD 308 she decided she was ready for a change and pursued a job in the Kansas City area.  Danah was delighted to then begin teaching elementary art at Morse Elementary in the Blue Valley School district.  She is currently in her 6th year at Morse in USD 228.

In the spring of 2016, Danah began teaching at the Culture House.  She instructs students in a variety of techniques and mediums during after school and Saturday morning classes. Danah loves the creative energy of the Culture House and feels it allows students to fully develop and mature as young artist.
